If you are new here, HI!!! We are so happy you have joined us and are able to stay connected as we take our projects around the country.
Last month, we spent an entire weekend at the in Herndon, VA performing at the 2020 Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention. This year the Flute Society of Washington decide to honor Women Composers and make tribute to Katherine Hoover during their annual convention. Taking every chance, we have to share our work we brought Beyond the Drawing Room to the Convention.
This program explored the lives and works of women who succeeded in creating a musical career, despite societal limitations. The pieces featured were composed for the drawing room, a domestic sphere of performance, and were largely popular in their time. Composers such as Joseph Haydn and George Frideric Handel knew these women and subscribed to their music.
The audience was delighted with our program. If you were not able to attend we welcome you to check out our YouTube channel for videos of the concert.
